Hi all

I've been having some odd symptoms in the last two weeks and don't really know what to make of it.

It started with a nose bleed, which happened 3 times in one week. We went to look after Emily for a few days, and I felt all right, apart from the fact that I felt sort of dozy and a bit light headed. Then this week I seem to have had a virus, with diarrhoea and I slept a lot for two days. My tummy seems to have recovered along with my appetite, but I still have the dozy feeling. It's not like tiredness, more like when you've had a drink. My tinnitus has been awful a well.

I spoke to my GP this morning, and he wants to see me next week, but I'm worried about my blood pressure, and thinking I will have a stroke. I know worrying like this will only make things worse, so I'll try and stay as calm as I can. I'm glad we're having a quiet weekend, so I can relax.

Oh Lyn - you SO do not need this. I'm glad you've phoned the GP and are going to be checked over next week. I'm no medic, but this could well be the lingering on of the virus cmombined with an inner ear problem. I know it's easy for me to say "dont worry" but try to relax over the weekend.

Lots of love

It does sound like a virus Lyn. If you are at all worried over the weekend though I would go to the out of hours service. Hope that you feel better soon. We all need a bit of sun and heat to make us feel better.

Take care,

I'm no medic either but it really does sound like a lingering virus. I'm quite sure your GP would have wanted to see you immediately had he thought there was any chance of you having a stroke, so do take some reassurance from that. Try and get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids but don't be afraid to call the 'out of hours' if you feel concerned.

Hope you feel better soon Lyn

Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather Lyn. When I feel ill I also worry about worst case scenario. I would be exactly the same. There is nothing worse than worrying for the Arthur. Please don't worry all weekend. If you don't want to phone out of hours GP, you can have your blood pressure checked at a lot of chemists these days. Do you have a Boots or Lloyds chemist nearby? They can do blood pressure checks there. Might be worth thinking about.

Just to add for anyone who is interested really ... a common misnomer!

A virus IS an infection! There are two types of infection. Bacterial such as strep throat or urinary tract can be treated with antibiotics; we all carry numerous bacteria but most are harmless and cause no problems. Viral such as common colds, chickenpox etc. don't respond to antibiotics, require a living host in order to multiply and often remain in the body much longer and recur more frequently. Some illnesses can be caused by either, pneumonia, meningitis for example. Viruses that linger for more than a couple of weeks generally need checking out for some underlying cause.

Well, someone might be interested RollEyes ... or not!!

Hope you are feeing a little better today Lyn. Smile

Hi Lynn

I had a booklet delivered a few days ago about NHS services in Nottinghamshire..

There is 3 Walk In Centres in Nottingham, some GP led, some nurse led. They are open over the weekend, various opening hours depending on which one.

If you go on www.nottsptc.nhs.uk I'm sure you will find out where they are.

If you do get worried over the weekend it may be worth going.

Thanks for all your replies, it's reassuring to know you are all out there, and it's good to talk about problems. I couldn't tell John or he would just worry even more than he does already.

I don't feel any different today, but I'm not worrying quite so much. I did think of trying some meditation to get my blood pressure down.

Love Lyn

Meditation is always a good idea, Lyn, as it defo helps with relaxation. I wouldn't worry too much about your BP - it might NOT be that.

Hope you are feeling much mire positive today.

lots of love

Hi Lyn
Sorry to hear you're having these problems. Hopefully it's not your blood pressure - and I suspect that if your doctor thinks it could be serious he'd have seen you on an emergency appointment. Hope it gets sorted soon.
